The financial planning process is the beginning of a dynamic, interactive relationship. The goal is to answer these three basic questions:
Where are you today?
Where do you want to be tomorrow?
How do you get there?
Below are the steps we go through to answer these questions.
Step 1 – Contact Liberty
Objective: We provide you with as much information as you need about Liberty, our services, the benefits we provide, and our fee structure so you can determine if we are the right advisers for you. Once you schedule a free initial consultation, you will receive a custom Initial Consultation Questionnaire to get the ball rolling.
Step 2 – Meet for a Free Initial Consultation
Objective: This is a “get to know each other” meeting that usually lasts between 1 to 1 1/2 hours. It’s designed to see if we’re a good fit for each other. We meet at a location that’s convenient for you to discuss your specific financial planning needs and goals, and determine which of our services are right for you. We will provide you a quote for our services. Then, at your convenience, it’s up to you to decide whether to engage our services. There is no cost or obligation for this meeting. See the Initial Consultation Questionnaire for more details.
Step 3 – Gather Data and Goals
Objective: If you decide Liberty is a good fit, then we will need to gather all your relevant financial data and goals on our comprehensive Client Questionnaire and have you attach any supporting documents. This step is very interactive as we work together to clarify your current situation and your goals.
Step 4 – Analyze Data and Develop Plan
Objective: Liberty analyzes your current situation, formulates a plan to achieve your goals, and identifies options to implement the plan. Based on what we learn, we may come back to you with follow up questions or present some preliminary ideas for further discussion.
Step 5 – Present Your Financial Plan
Objective: We meet to review and discuss the details of your financial plan. You will receive a detailed written assessment of your current situation, specific recommendations to accomplish your goals, and detailed implementation steps. We take time to answer your questions and explain everything in terms you can understand.
Step 6 – Implement Your Financial Plan
Objective: You determine whether to implement any of the financial plan’s recommendations. We will answer any follow-up questions you may have. In addition, we will assist you with any issues in getting your plan implemented. Liberty is here to assist you every step of the way.
Step 7 – Monitor Progress
Objective: We meet periodically (at least annually, but sometimes more frequently depending on your situation) to monitor the progress of your financial plan and make adjustments as necessary. Ongoing, proactive investment management services are also available.
That’s a linear view of the overall process. In real life it is an ongoing interaction as we build a working relationship for the long-term.
We appreciate your business!
